Cancer is Ugly

I work as a registered nurse for a local hospice and see the effects of cancer almost daily. Pain, nausea, vomiting, tumors, anorexia, muscle wasting, shortness of breath etc. It is ugly! I bet you are glad I didn't post gory pictures. Maybe, I should because they would be in your face and would make you think, "How can I stop this?"

Well, there is not a cut and dry way to stop cancer. There is not a magic potion to rid it from our lives. You could try to live a healthy life to avoid cancer. But honestly, cancer happens to people most of the times regardless of their actions. So what can you do?

You can donate to the American Cancer Society by following this link and support Lanier Dance Club and Chestatee High School in their efforts to battle cancer. American Cancer Society supports research, patient services, early detection, treatment, education, and helps to provide hope to cancer sufferers.

On February 17th, 2011 I will be "Dancing with the Teachers" in a fund-raising event for American Cancer Society called "Relay for Life". A high school teacher and I will be dancing the East Coast Swing to "Jump Jive and Wail" by Brian Setzer Orchestra. We will be judged for our dancing abilities and for the amount of funds we have raised. Please help us win and donate to our cause!
