I think some Americans are a little irked by the popularity of the Royal Wedding. Mostly because we don't understand the Monarchy, it is not a part of our culture. We have to remember however, that neither William nor his bride can help what family they were born into. Just like many of us, they have met and fell in love and married today. I congratulate them and certainly hope their marriage lasts.
I wasn't planning on watching the ceremony but I happened upon it this morning when my alarm went off at 6am. There was news telling me Kate Middleton was about to walk down the isle. So I put CNN live on my internet and projected it onto the television. Justin and I watched it together. I thought it was a very lovely wedding. I kind of felt like an intruder though, watching such a personal ceremony that I was not invited to. I was glad that the service pointed to an even greater Wedding ceremony, that marriage in itself signifies. I heard the cost of this wedding was in the 100's of millions and thought to myself, how it paled in comparison to the cost of The Wedding: The blood of a spotless Lamb, a perfect and sinless human and Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Here is the wedding announcement:
" Hallelujah! For the Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean was given for her to wear. Then the angel said to me "Write. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! " Revelation 19: 6-9
And the best thing about this wedding, is I'm actually invited, and so are you!
"The Spirit and the bride say "Come!" And let him who hears say "Come!" Whoever is thristy, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life" Revelation 21: 17
And this is what the marriage will be like:
" Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying. Now the dwelling of god is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. he will wipe every tear form their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain., for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21: 1-4
Until that Blessed day we live our marriages as a symbol of this Spiritual and Eternal relationship:
"Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless." Ephesians 5:25
Isn't it beautiful! Thank you Jesus for loving us and making us ready for you!
